HISTORIC CAMBRIDGE
Cambridge Museum
Victoria St. Originally the Courthouse, this 1907 building now houses the museum. The museum has displays of early history and military beginnings of Cambridge. Open 7 days 1 - 4pm including public holidays. Phone 827 3319.
Victoria Bridge
Victoria St. Known locally as the “high level” bridge it was opened in 1907 by Lord Plunket. The bridge was sent from America
in pieces and assembled from both sides before meeting in the centre. It was the first single arch bridge in Australaisia.
Post Office
Victoria St. The Cambridge Post Office was built in two stages. What makes this building unique is the insignias of ERV11 and ERV111. These two insignias were placed above the two Post Office entrances. The building is now a restaurant.
St Andrews Anglican Church
Cnr Hamilton Rd and Victoria St. Constructed in 1873 of kauri and Rimu wood, its Victorian Gothic style houses one of the few chiming bells in Australasia. The church contains three significant stained glass windows as a memorial to Anglican soldiers who died during WW1 battles of Gallipoli, Ypres and Le Quesnoy.
Town Clock
Jubilee Gardens Victoria St. Originally located in the tower of the Post Office. The tower suffered damage as a result of the Napier earthquake in 1931 and was considered unsafe.
Town Hall 1909
Victoria St. Edwardian and symmetrical in design, the hall has many decorative and stylish embellishments.
Cenotaph 1923
Jubilee Gardens. The memorial includes the names of fallen soldiers who perished in WW1 and has since become a memorial for all soldiers who have lost their lives in battle. It features a Cambridge soldier crafted in Italian marble.

Lake Te Ko Utu
Albert St. A hidden jewel lake Te Ko Utu has a well-established walkway around its perimeter and seven different tracks leading to street level.
Thornton Road Gardens
Rose gardens, indoor begonia house.
Jubilee Gardens
Located in front of the Cambridge Town Hall and plaza. The gardens were created to celebrate Queen Victoria’s 60th Jubilee. It is an important focal point for Cambridge as it houses the War Memorial Cenotaph.
Japanese Garden
Located beside the Cambridge library in Wilson St to commemorate the sister city of Bihoro.

WALKS
Maungatautari Ecological Island
Discover either one of the northern or southern entrances and experience the indigenous wildlife flourishing in its natural habitat – a lush, vibrant pest free forest. Guided tours are available by arrangement. Phone 823 7455.
Maungakawa Scenic Reserve
Approximately 10 minute drive from central Cambridge, the Maungakawa track can be accessed from within Gudex memorial Reserve, offering the visitor a panoramic view over Cambridge and the greater Waikato. Maungakawa has had a resurgence of native bird life, being home to Kereru (native wood pigeon) and Tui.
Cambridge Walking Tracks
Thanks largely to the Cambridge Tree Trust, the Waipa District Council and volunteers, the town has a variety of walkways waiting to be discovered and explored. ranging from river walks along the Waikato River to tree trails suitable for all abilities.

Equine Statue and Walk of Fame
Cambridge is famous for its many equine achievements. A brochure is available from the i-SITE Visitor Centre showing the location of mosaics depicting famous horse and the Equine Trail.
Waitakaruru Sculpture Park
Scotsman Valley Rd. Carved in to a Waikato hillside, this former quarry has been transformed into a magnificent 17 hectare garden and arboretum. At any given time there are at least 50 sculptures to discover along the 2km long nature trail.
Cambridge to Karapiro Te Awa Cycle and Walkway
Cnr Browning and Carlyle Sts connecting Cambridge and Karapiro the recently completed Te Awa cycle/walkway is just over 6km of dedicated pathway to the shores of Lake Karapiro.

Lake Karapiro. The last dam on the Waikato River hydro system.

Taylor St. Cambridge has regular meeting throughout the year. This venue is one of the finest in the southern hemisphere.
Lake Karapiro
Maungatautari Rd. The Mighty River Domain hosts many aquatic sports and activities including Beach Volleyball, Grand Prix Hydroplanes, and includes the NZ Rowing high performance centre.
